WATER pH MEASUREMENT

EQUIPMENT AND REAGENTS

  • pH meter with electrodes (glass electrode plus reference electrode, or combined glass/reference electrode)
  • Buffer solutions: pH=4, pH=7 and pH=10

PROCEDURE

  1. Take approximately 30 mL of the water sample and place it in a beaker,
  2. After calibration of measuring set-up rinse the electrode(s) with distilled water, gently dry off the excess water with tissue paper and insert in the water sample allowing 1 min for equilibration,
  3. Record temperature and pH values.
